One of the nicest things about crepe paper streamer is that they are so versatile and inexpensive. Here are several creative ways to use streamers. Some, you may already be aware of, but others you may have never considered before.
Decorating: Streamers have always been a great addition to the decor at any party. They are popular for dances because the areas are so large, and you can get really creative with the way you twist them. You can make Merry-Go-Rounds, canopies, waves of the sea, fringes, or scallops around a table. You could use midnight blue across a ceiling and hang stars from the streamers to make it look like a starlit sky.
Crepe Paper Flowers: The options are amazing how streamers can be used for crafts. You can make flowers with crepe paper, floral wire and some tape. Look online for instructions to create your own paper flower garden. Some flowers are simple, and some are much more advanced. You can put flowers around a cake or across a shelf with lights intertwined to add some brightness to a room or party. Teach your daughter and her friends how to arrange a bouquet of crepe paper flowers, or to decorate a pot, and "plant" them.
Another fun idea is to make wind socks out of paper plates and streamers. Cut a hole in the paper plate, and then staple streamers of varying lengths and colors all around the outside of the plate. Attach a strong string to opposite sides of the plate in front for the child to hold on to, and send them running through the yard. The more you let the kids create, the more they will enjoy playing with it. And, it will keep them occupied for a while.
You can loosely weave several colors of crepe paper to make simple place mats or a tablecloth with the fringes hanging over the edge of the table. With the right colors to match the occasion, it can really add to the mood of the room.
Just to prove you know how to be spontaneous, buy several streamers for each of your children in their favorite colors and let them decorate their room. It will give them a little bit of experience on how to use them, and it might surprise you how creative they can be. You can tell them they can keep it up for a week or two, or until it really starts to look bad. There is something so fun about making your own area more cheery.
